A Deep Dive into (500) Days of Summer

I've been watching movies for as long as I can remember, and I've now conquered a sizable part of the world of movies, and yet, this world keeps expanding, giving me new opportunities and more "land" to uncover. Between action and comedies, horror and romance lies a world of stories ready to unveil. And between true and failed love, lies (500) Days of Summer.

Telling the tale of Tom Hansen and Summer Finn, played by the phenomenal Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, (500) Days of Summer addresses the relationship of a paradoxical couple. Tom, a firm believer in true love, destiny, and fate, meets Summer, a skeptic, who does not want any sort of relationship. As time passes, they tangle themselves into a mixture of emotions, into falling in love and falling out of it. And it is in Summer's world of eternal indecision, and Tom's universe of imposition, of belief, that the true magic happens. It is where the viewer discovers that love can be one-sided and that sometimes, fate if it exists, can lead us to unexpected places.

(500) Days of Summer does a sublime job of meeting, or even going beyond, expectations. The actors do a staggering job with their performances, and the direction of Marc Webb, who made his directorial debut with (500) Days of Summer itself, builds what can be considered a cinematographic masterpiece. As Tom, the protagonist falls in love, so do we, with the moving experience of his journey.

This is one of the few movies that I can affirm changed me and made me dive into the ocean of what we can call a film. It is a must-watch. Let yourself conquer the world this movie portrays. Let yourself effortlessly fall in love. Dive in.
