A Global Masterpiece?

It is of no news that the five-time Academy Award nominee Christopher Nolan has always made fantastic films. From "Inception" to "Interstellar", he has been highly praised for his unique style of filmmaking, his phenomenal screenplays, and his overall creativity. However, it is his most recent work, "Oppenheimer", that can be stated as truly revolutionary.

Nolan wrote and directed the movie with intelligence and meticulous effort. After a few days it was released, "Oppenheimer" became one of his most respected movies, and one of the highest-grossing, with a box office of a whopping U$ 891.2 million. The movie counts with the presence of significant names within the movie industry like Cillian Murphy, the protagonist; Robert Downey Junior, who metamorphoses into Lewis Strauss; and Matt Damon, Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt, all who play their roles with dexterity and utmost talent.

The film recounts Julius Robert Oppenheimer’s life journey. Born in New York City in 1904, Oppenheimer grew his interest in studying minerals, physics, and chemistry from the age of 10 while attending the Ethical Cultural School of NYC. He then proceeded to graduate high school in 1921 as valedictorian but had to postpone his enrollment at Harvard due to his diagnosis of dysentery. When attending Harvard one year later, although Oppenheimer majored in chemistry, he found a true passion for the study of physics.

Oppenheimer’s story is by far the most defining feature of the film, this sole focus on one person and how the constant high pressure of creating the most powerful weapon in human history affects him. Not only that, but the movie has an intriguing, finely-composed plot, "invisible", yet ever-present visual effects, and an extraordinary musical score. Christopher Nolan truly did a fantastic job not only with writing, directing, and producing "Oppenheimer", but also oversaw the construction of the movie to such an extent that it can be described as a visual masterpiece and a truly "bombastic" viewing experience.
