A Week Without Walls

Every year, as part of the curriculum, every year Middle School students go on a trip called VIA SAPIENTIA, where they’ll be camping, lashing, tool building, farming, having fun with treasure hunts, team building activities, reforestation and survival scenarios.

According to Mrs. Deborah Dale, Upper School Coordinator, the purpose of Via Sapientia is to enhance character, motivate leadership, experience outdoor activities, step out of the comfort zone, learn new skills, and make new friends.

6th graders travalled to Itatiaia with Ms. Debs, Ms. Emily, Mr. Rafael, and Mrs. Silvia. They spent 4 days in Hotel Fazenda Tres Pinheiros. "The city of Itatiaia was chosen for the outdoor opportunities" said Ms.Debs.

7th graders' was to Tiradentes, in Minas Gerais, with Mrs. Marina, Mrs. Angela, and Mr. Scott. Pousada Pequeno Tiradentes is the name of the place where they stayed.

8th graders travelled to Vassouras with Mr. Tim, Mr. Maciel, and Mrs. Crawford. They had a lot of fun at Vassoura Eco Resort.

Both Tiradentes and Vassouras were chosen for their cultural and historical value, so that students can learn about Brazil’s history.

"Students have some responsabilities like packing the right things, being on time, eating healthy, sleeping well, and getting ready to lead activities. At the end, they see how they were able to overcome so many challenges and have fun together” says Ms.Camila, US Art teacher and MS Advisor.
