Brazil hosts Copa America 2019

Copa America is the oldest international teams tournament in the world, founded in 1916. The organization which organizes Copa America is COMENBOL.


Its 46th edition will be hosted here in Brazil. The last time Brazil hosted the tournament was in 1989, when it was the champion.


Copa America 2019 will start on June 14 and the final game will be in Maracanã, on July 7. There will be games in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Salvador and Porto Alegre.

There are 10 teams from South America competing, and two guests from Asia. This year, they are Japan and Qatar.


Group A teams are: Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, and Venezuela;


Group B teams are: Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, and Qatar;


Group C teams are: Uruguay, Equador, Chile, and Japan;


Uruguay is the team with the most Copa America Awards, 15 total. "There are other important soccer tournaments besides the World Cup. Copa America is a great one, and extra special this year as our country is hosting the event" says Mr.Bernardo Pedro, US P.E. teacher.
