This month, 9th and 10th grade students will take the famous PSAT tests. What are they? How can students prepare for that? The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) can be referred to as somewhat of a practice version of the SAT test, which is simply the "Scholastic Aptitude Test".
There are three versions of the PSAT. While doing the PSAT, students may qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship which would lead to anywhere from 500 to I0,000 dollars every year during your tuition.
The tests take 2 hours and 45 minutes, and focus on many subjects and skills a student will have learned during school. It tests your skills in math, reading and writing and the sections are divided into different times.
Since the PSAT is a test that measures your knowledge and skills you'd learn in school, the best way to prepare is simply to pay attention in class and do homework. There is one other option however. Khan academy has practice for SAT which takes information from short quizzes to make a personalized plan just for you.
"PSATs are an outstanding way to get familiarized to SAT's content and format. But students should face their exams as more than just a preparation or even a trial run for their SATs, since their scores are also used to identify potential scholarships", says Mr. Maciel, HS Chemistry teacher.
