EARJ Barra will start offering the IB program to grade II students, from August 2020. But what is IB anyway? International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme was founded in Switzerland, in 1968. The program helps develop students physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
It is a two-year international course that prepares students to drive their own learning, and encourages them to think independently, explained Ms. Deborah Dale, US coordinator. Students will be able to choose subjects such as Art, Math, Science, Individuals and Society, Language Acquisition, and Language and Literature.
Some IB representatives have been to the campus to meet with the school administration, future IB teachers, and librarian. They discussed ways to start developing the IB program at EAR| Barra. IBDP is not a mandatory program. The students can choose to take the full IBDP, the IB certificates, and/or the American and/or Brazilian High School diploma. The IBDP offers many benefits, like helping with college application. Participants have the chance to get into the best universities in the world.
Panther Press wishes the best of luck to our next grade class starting the IBDP in 2020!
