After 4 years of having its last edition before being canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic, the EARJ International Day is making its return on Saturday, May 6th. For newcomers, the EARJ International Day seeks to show aspects of the culture of countries that represent the school community through food, decorations, and other things. During the event, there is a parade with flags of each participating country, where the anthem of each country is played and several of the participants have traditional attire from their own cultures. All visitors are given a "passport," where each booth places a stamp that is a "visa" that represents that they have already visited that country. In addition to the party, there is a raffle of baskets with prizes, ranging from kindergarten to Upper School. Each of the baskets has a special theme, such as LEGO, getting to know Rio, sports, among others. The proceeds from the raffle will be donated to two NGOS, one for a Barra NGO and one for a Gávea NGO.
Meanwhile, the Big 8 tournaments that were held from Sunday 9th of April until Saturday 15th of April have shown us great surprises. This season included the sports volleyball, futsal and softball, the latter two making their comeback after being temporarily scrapped due to the pandemic. The boys and girls volleyball team were extremely strong this year, and
almost became the champions of the season when playing a competitive match against Graded and Sant’Anna, respectively. While the girls futsal team did an excellent job for their first time back, so did the softball team, both showing great diligence and determination, bringing a bronze medal back home. As per the boys futsal team, they were extremely close in winning a gold medal, but unfortunately conceded a goal against Chapel in the last minute. For the first season back with two returning modalities (softball and futsal), these results were insanely amazing!
