PIXels generation

Updated: Apr 20, 2022

This Monday (29th of November), 2 PIX varieties were made available, the PIX-Saque and the PIX-Troco. PIX-Saque consists of cash withdrawals at commercial establishments. PIX-Troco, on the other hand, allows the withdrawal, but only if it is associated with the purchase or provision of a service.

These options make life easier for its users, allowing them not only to make withdrawals from ATMs but also commercial establishments. However, this proposal is optional, depending on the adaptation of systems in stores.

The central bank announced that anyone with an account at one of the institutions participating in the PIX can take advantage of their new services. There will be eight free transactions per month for individuals and traditional withdrawals. During the day, PIX Saque and PIX Troco have a maximum transaction limit of R$500,00. At night the limit is R$100.00, from 20. p.m to 6. a.m.

How does PIX-Saque work?

  1. First, the user goes to the commercial establishment or areas that offer PIX Saque.

  2. After that, a QR Code will be shown to the user, where he makes a PIX.

  3. Finally, if the payment is authenticated, the user receives the value of his transfer in cash.

The only difference from PIX-Troco is that cash withdrawals can be made during payment of purchase at the establishment. Thus, the PIX is made for the total purchase amount plus the withdrawal.

With these new services, citizens have more variety when accessing physical money, as withdrawals can be made not only at ATMs but in different places during their everyday routine.
