Last month, three men in Rio de Janeiro attempted a legendary heist that would go down in history. This started in Parque Lage, with the three men attempting to steal a sloth from the park. These men have a known history with law enforcement, and the trafficking of wild animals.
They walked into Parque Lage, got one of the female sloths present, and put her in their backpack. On their way out of the park, a patrolling police car noticed their strange behavior and decided to stop them to interrogate them. The three men and the sloth were taken to the 14th police station in Leblon, eventually admitting that they had plans of selling the sloth for R$1,500 in a fair in Duque de Caxias, and in the Baixada Fluminense, confessing that their original goal was to steal a capuchin monkey in the botanical garden. However, because security was strong on that day, the three men decided to steal the sloth.
In conclusion, this is arguably one of the greatest heists that has happened in Rio de Janeiro recently. Currently, ever since the heist, the three men have been arrested and the sloth is now safe. The female sloth, known as Gloria, is under stable conditions but had to have veterinary care to ensure that nothing critical happened. Since the heist, the sloth has already been returned to her home in Parque Lage.
