Vaccination Campaign

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

Brazil has over 40% of the population fully vaccinated, with around 39% in Rio. Almost 100 thousand people are getting vaccinated per day. Rio is one of the leading states, after São Paulo, and Espirito Santo. The second dose was anticipated, with the current period being just 21 days for those aged 40 and over, which makes the reinforcement schedule faster.

The campaign now also contemplates 15 - 12 year-old boys and girls. Second dose available for pregnant women, postpartum, and lactating, as well as people with disabilities from 12 years old on.

Elderly people, over 60 years old, who have already taken the second dose of the vaccination schedule by March 31 in the city of Rio, will be allowed to take the reinforcement dose at any time.

In the city of Niterói, authorities decided to reduce the vaccine interval from 12 weeks to 8 weeks.

"There is an app called Connect SUS that helps you keep your health information accessible on your phone in case you need it", says nurse Flavia Almeida (free translation).
